Professional Experience

Digital Arts Leicester I was one of 8 Leicester-based artists commissioned by Interact Digital Arts to create new work during lockdown, with the view to developing a digital programme of events in response to the restrictions on museums and cultural venues and taking part in a digital exhibition of new work.

Light Night Leicester I was one of 8 Leicester-based artists selected to take part in a series of workshops in the run up to the opening of the festival, learning how to use micro:bit technology to programme audio-visual artworks. The resulting artworks or prototypes for future works were displayed as part of the festival’s public opening event.

Shine Emerging Artist Programme, I was one of three emerging artists selected to receive a £4000 commission to create Pharos, a lighted artwork to be installed as part of three light festivals under the banner of Light Up the North. The shows I am exhibiting as part of are Light Night Leeds, Light Up Lancaster and Lightwaves which takes place each year in Salford Quays. Not only did we receive the money to develop these new works, we also received backing and training from a variety of professionals to ensure that we were able to fully realise our concept and ensure that they are safe for installation within the public realm.

Digital and Marketing Intern

Within this role, I was tasked with monitoring and updating various social media channels including the organisations blog, Facebook and Twitter. I am also responsible for updating and maintaining the website and databases using WordPress and eTapestry and designing and distributing monthly newsletters.

Light the Night,
this project incorporated a number of events around Leicester’s Cultural Quarter, including a digital firework display and digitally mapped projections across the area’s buildings, created by and incorporating local artists and makers. Myself and two other artists were commissioned to create a series of sculptures that would act as a legacy to the one night event and remain in the area throughout the winter period, which we titled Fold/Unfold. Within this project, we also held a workshop for others to come and help construct elements of these sculptures.

The Attic Art Collective, The Attic studio closed and rebranded as a collective of 6 artists who created work collaboratively in addition to our separate practices.

Handmade Festival, working with 5 other artists to produce a series of art works to be displayed in a number of venues across Leicester for the duration of the festival. Works include film, projection sculpture and installation pieces. Personally, as part of this project my main role was to create a large site-specific installation within the Bell Street Methodist Church venue.

The Crocus Gallery, Nottingham, Exhibition Coordinator, acting as first contact for artists and curators assembling shows, curating my own exhibitions, working within tight deadlines and handling a budget.

The Attic, Studio Assistant, helping to set up a non-profit studio space for rent inLeicester. Responsibilities include researching and putting together a newsletter of potential commissions and competition opportunities for resident artists and organising events and exhibitions for artists working in the space.
